The Red Hat RHCT and RHCE certifications are intensive hands-on examinations and contain troubleshooting elements. If you do not have experience troubleshooting a wide variety of Linux problems then you may benefit from also taking the GL314 - Linux Troubleshooting course.

The Novell CLE certification includes coverage of Novell eDirectory ® and Novell Nterprise ™ Linux services that are not covered by the Guru Labs' courses. Persons not already familiar with these services should investigate training offered by Novell on these topics.

About the LPI Certification Program
The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) offers 2 levels of Linux Professional Certification. Many of Guru Labs courses are specifically designed to lead you to an LPI certification.

LPI's industry standard certifications are delivered in thousands of locations worldwide, in multiple languages and with the support of employers, vendors, and trainers. Since there is no central authority controlling the Linux operating system, anyone may start up a Linux certification program and several companies have. The most critical difference between LPI and the rest of these programs is that LPI is completely vendor independent and distribution neutral. LPI works with a large list of companies and its tests have been developed specifically to test competence with all versions of Linux. LPI is an independent, non-profit corporation which has evolved out of the Linux community focusing solely on setting certification standards.

About the Red Hat Certification Program
Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) are performance-based tests that measure actual competency on live systems. RHCT is the first step in establishing Linux credentials and is an ideal certification for those transitioning from non-UNIX/Linux environments. RHCE, called the "crown jewel of Linux certifications," proves an individual's ability to configure networking services and security on servers running a Red Hat OS. RHCE was recently named the hottest certification in all of IT by CertCities.com.
